I enjoy drawing plants and animals and learning about the folklore and myths associated with them. Plants I observe from life, and the birds I sketch in museums. My sketchbook fills with drawings, and then I choose the very best to make etchings. The process of creating an image on the copper plate is laborious and mercurial, and not all pieces succeed. The ones that do, that capture the essence and beauty of my subject, are my reward. Then I can print a small edition and share this labor of love.
